New sexual-misconduct accusation rocks Kavanaugh nomination

"The second accuser has nothing", Trump said of Ramirez. "They know it's a con game", he said.

"I am with him all the way", Trump said between meetings at the United Nations.

In the midst of his visit to the United Nations, President Donald Trump on Tuesday denounced Democrats and some of the allegations made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanugh, as the President accused Democrats of playing a "very risky game" in their opposition to the judge's nomination.

"I'm not going to let false accusations drive us out of this process, and we're looking for a fair process where I can be heard and defend my integrity, my lifelong record", Kavanaugh said during his remarkable appearance on Fox News, "my lifelong record of promoting dignity and equality for women, starting with the women who knew me when I was 14 years old".

It took a page from the playbook of the man who picked Kavanaugh for the job, President Donald Trump, using his news organization of choice, often a sort of cheerleader in chief for his administration.

Grassley told TPM: "The attorney is a staff counsel, hired just like all the other lawyers we hired for the Supreme Court, and we have done it because we want to depoliticize the whole process, like the Democrats politicized the Anita Hill thing".

The new allegation, reported Sunday by The New Yorker magazine, prompted the Senate Judiciary Committee's top Democrat, Dianne Feinstein of California, to call for a postponement of Thursday's highly-anticipated hearing where Kavanaugh and Ford are to testify.

The 53-year-old Kavanaugh, now a federal appeals court judge in Washington DC, flatly denies the accusations.

Corner Donnie Grimsley said Friday morning that he's still working to contact the victim's family before he releases the name. North Carolina governor Roy Cooper says the state is still tallying its storm damage, but says it will be in the billions .

The New Yorker was unable to confirm with eyewitnesses that Kavanaugh was at the party Ramirez described, though one classmate who was not at the party said that he is "one-hundred-per-cent sure" he was told Kavanaugh had exposed himself to Ramirez. "I'm confident about the trousers coming up, and I'm confident about Brett being there", she said. Kavanaugh deinied the latest allegation.

Kavanaugh and his Republican allies portrayed the allegations as part of a "smear campaign" by Democrats who have fought his nomination from the outset.

Kavanaugh's march toward Senate confirmation has been rocked by allegations of decades-old sexual improprieties from two women.

On Mr Kavanaugh, Mr Trump stressed: "I am with him all the way".

But Republican committee members and Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell also have made clear that they will question the women's memories and lack of witnesses or evidence. "No one is trying to hide from this.in fact, Brett Kavanaugh has been leaning in".

Democrats have accused Republicans of not conducting a thorough review in their rush to get Kavanaugh confirmed. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez and all women deserve to be believed until proven otherwise.

He added that he had watched the Fox News interview broadcast on Monday, which he said was "so truthful".

It's unclear whether these protests will have any effect on the Senate Republicans, who seem dead set on holding a vote, regardless of the mounting accusations against Kavanaugh.
