Trump says Republicans should have pushed through Kavanaugh sooner

Ford said later that she had wanted the second door because of claustrophobia she believes was caused by Kavanaugh's attack.

Ford's name isn't mentioned at all on the calendar, but she has said she didn't know Kavanaugh well at the time of the alleged assault and did not remember exactly where and when it happened.

Swetnick now resides in Washington, D.C. and works at the U.S. Department of Treasury and states she has had prior clearances at the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and the State Department.

Avenatti declined to expand on the allegation in an interview Wednesday on ABC's "The View", saying he would not add detail beyond what was in the statement. "This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone".

"The details about that night that bring me here today are ones I will never forget".

Avenatti on Tuesday tweeted a "sworn declaration" from a woman named Julie Swetnick who claimed the Supreme Court nominee was involved in "gang" rapes in the early 1980s.

Avenatti also represents adult-film actress Stormy Daniels, whom Trump gave hush money to over an alleged extramarital affair. "He is just looking for attention and doesn't want people to look at his past record and relationships - a total low-life!"

On the other side, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY said Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination. However, the lawyer is unsure whether she would do it without an FBI investigation first.

Ford's reply: "Brett Kavanaugh". "He is asking for a lifetime appointment to the nation's highest court where he will have the opportunity to rule on matters that will impact Americans for decades", they wrote in a statement Wednesday.

College classmate claims Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at party
He said he "did not have sexual intercourse or anything close to sexual intercourse in high school or for many years thereafter ". Grassley released the letter on Monday , along with a letter from Kavanaugh himself in which he flatly denies Ford's allegations.

His confirmation to the lifetime job would cement conservative control of the Supreme Court, as Trump moves to shift the high court and the broader federal judiciary to the right. "The committee staff have made six separate attempts to gather further information from Mr. Avenatti, and has repeatedly invited him and his client to a staff interview".

Avenatti sent the declaration to the Senate Judiciary Committee. He said it would be days before the full Senate took up the nomination, "so there's plenty of time".

The allegations against Kavanaugh have cast a cultural spotlight on his nomination in light of the "Me Too" movement.

"When you say you went to 10 parties like that and you kept going to those parties even though that was happening", Wilkinson said of Swetnick, "and you saw that supposedly happening to other girls - that is a different thing not to report".

In another declaration, Keith Koegler said Ford revealed the alleged assault to him in 2016, when the two parents were watching their children play in a public place and discussing the "light" sentencing of Stanford University student Brock Turner.

He continued: "If our Republican colleagues proceed without an investigation, it would be a travesty for the honor of the Supreme Court and our country". He included emails he exchanged with Grassley's staff this week.

An attorney for Judge in an email to The Hill said Judge "vehemently denies" Swetnick's allegations. Experts said that making false statements on such a document would be a "career-ender" for her. He's denied those allegations.

Republican leaders indicated they were still determined to have the committee vote on recommending Kavanaugh on Friday - after a dramatic Thursday hearing at which both Kavanaugh and Ford, are to testify.

In Swetnick's statement, she said she met Kavanaugh and Judge in the early 1980s at a house party.
