First Image of Ruby Rose as Batwoman Reveals a New Caped Crusader

Ruby Rose is taking on the role of Kate Kane, who'll debut in the three-part event between Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash (Legends of Tomorrow is sitting this one out) before her own spin-off potentially launches next year (The CW have ordered a pilot episode). Called Elseworlds, this year the crossover will "only" be between Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl as their attention turns to Arkham Asylum and its madness.

The picture shows Rose striding forward in a black and red bodysuit with a cape and mask.

Designed by Oscar victor Colleen Atwood, the fight-ready Batwoman costume features a winged cape, a red bat symbol across the chest, a utility belt, and, most striking of all, a red wig emerging from the traditional cowl.

You can see the first look image below.

The annual Arrow-verse crossover will begin production Tuesday in Vancouver, B.C., according to Entertainment Tonight.

Ruby Rose is ready to rise as The CW's Batwoman.

The character of Batwoman is, despite the closeness of the names, not Batgirl as most Batman-franchise fans know her. "But don't call her a hero yet". Rose is a notable member of the LGBTQ community, so playing a character who has been described as the "highest profile gay superhero" was certainly a great opportunity for Rose to represent the LGBTQ community further. "The second motto [I lived by] when I came into the industry was, 'Be the person that you needed when you were younger'".

The Arrowverse three-way crossover begins Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8/7c on The CW. "I didn't change. I wish we would all support each other and our journeys".
