Prime Minister rules out customs union option after Brexit

Boris Johnson says 'now is the time to chuck Chequers'

The backstop is meant to be a temporary arrangement to ensure there is no return of a "hard border" between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic after Britain leaves the European Union in March 2019 while the two sides negotiate a free trade deal.

He added: "We are simply reminding her, you are being torn at the moment between what we believe are your gut instincts and your sound principles on the union and at the same time the bullying, threatening behaviour of the EU".

It is understood that cabinet ministers Mr Fox, Mr Gove, Mr Raab and Mr Hunt expressed concerns about the possibility.

However, the Brexit spokesman of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), May's parliamentary partner, said the DUP's 10 members of parliament would vote against the United Kingdom budget and consider voting no-confidence in May if the British government breaks the DUP's red lines in Brexit talks.

Michael Russell will be there representing the Scottish Government and is expected to once again sound the alarm about the damage to Scotland's economy a hard or no-deal Brexit would do.

"He told the BBC's Political Thinking podcast: "'Their behaviour was pretty intolerable, but not almost as intolerable as the way the present Prime Minister is being treated".

Once agreed even temporarily, the European Union would have no reason ever. Blair said, adding that the government had cast aside the interests of the service sector.

The Prime Minister has been right to rule out creating a new border between Northern Ireland and Great Britain.

DUP deputy leader Nigel Dodds said on Friday: "I think there could be developments over the weekend in terms of the Government's own position and the Cabinet, so we will remain focused on the priorities for Northern Ireland".

The Prime Minister knows the consequences if she walks away from her Brexit promise to unionists, the DUP has warned.

She reportedly pitched her solution to the Northern Ireland "backstop", a major sticking point in the negotiations that has bitterly divided her party and caused friction with the EU.

London and Brussels are racing to reach a Brexit agreement by the end of the year.

They have already sent warning shots by abstaining from an unimportant vote in the House of Commons earlier this week.

Sammy Wilson, Brexit spokesman for Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Part, made public a previously private threat to vote against the government;s budget proposals this month if May breaches his party's red lines, a move that could lead to fresh elections.

Numerous problems are now being solved on a step by step basis "but there are, of course" several big issues which we really need to get to grips with, ' the prime minister said.
