Usain Bolt scores two goals in trial game for Central Coast Mariners

Usain Bolt controls the ball during the pre-season match between the Central Coast Mariners and Central Coast Football

He told Fox Sports: "I'm just happy that I got a chance and I'm proud of myself".

His dart to the near post created space for McCormack, who confidently headed home his first goal in Mariners colours from fellow new signing Tommy Oar's delivery.

His second goal came in the 68th minute when he took advantage of a defensive blunder and tapped in an empty-netter.

"I watch football, so I understand the movement, but the simple things like locking my ankles, getting into space, pulling defenders away ..."

"It caught me by surprise". I try to get better and I am on the way to doing that.

"That comes with the fact that I don't have a lot of experience on the field".

And it wasn't long before McCormack - who's on loan Down Under from Aston Villa - to open the scoring.

Bolt said that after this game he would be sitting down with the club to discuss his future. "They will treat me just like a footballer should be treated".

Mariners coach Mike Mulvey said last month that he would wait until January before assessing the progress of Bolt.

"He's mixed in with everybody fantastically well". In fact, the world's fastest man found the back of the net twice. To add insult to injury, the flag then went up for offside.

He came close in the 39th minute when he had his best moment of the first half.

Playing in a central striking role, Bolt struggled for touch early in the match but flourished after halftime. The Mariners would go on to win the game 4-0.

The chances were coming thick and fast for the nine-time gold medal victor, playing a one-two with McCormack only to whiff on the return ball in a glorious position.

For his opening goal Bolt ran on to a chipped ball played by Scotland striker Ross McCormack, held off the defender and finished powerfully low past the goalkeeper.

But Bolt appeared to be deprived of service for much of the first half - the Mariners preferring to play up the wings leaving Bolt with an outstretched arm in the air, similar to his trademark Lightning Bolt celebration.
