Here’s how celebrities & activists are protesting Trump’s latest attack on transgender people

The memo outlines plans to "establish a legal definition of sex" under Title IX. Disputes over one's sex would be resolved by genetic testing, the Times reports.

The memo, which the Times reported has been circulating since last Spring, asserts that agencies need to define gender "on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable". Under the proposed change - which would affect Title IX - gender would be defined as what a person is at birth, and not what he/she decides later in life.

The memo doesn't even begin to address the rights and needs of intersex people. More trans people will be assaulted and murdered.

Throughout Chicago on Monday, transgender people and their allies responded to the news that the Trump administration is considering eliminating federal recognition for transgender people with anger and defiance, confusion and fear. This isn't Trump's first attack on the community, though.

Chelsea Clinton also voiced her disapproval, writing: "The Trump Administration 'Eyes Defining Transgender Out of Existence, ' at a moment when transgender Americans face high levels of discrimination and violence". Despite this, Trump has since signed a new memorandum banning certain transgender individuals from serving in the military.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos not spotted in training ahead of Leicester City clash
Ramsey came off the bench in Arsenal's last game, scoring in the 5-1 victory over Fulham which stretched their winning run to nine games.

Health and human services officials said they were only abiding by court orders, referring to the rulings of Judge Reed O'Connor of the US District Court in Fort Worth, Texas, a George W. Bush appointee who has held that "Congress did not understand "sex" to include "gender identity".

The memo has been condemned by LGBTQ groups.

Led by groups including the National Center for Transgender Equality and Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, protesters waved signs reading, "Trans rights are human rights" and "No body is illegal". I'm a writer, an academic, a performer, and medical professional. I'm a published scientist.

"We've always known this administration intends nothing short of the destruction of our communities".

That's a little.dramatic. Changing definitions under which government agencies operate does not summarily "render 1.4 million transgendered people legally nonexistent", particularly given that, until a few months ago, gender and sex was, in fact, determined by biological traits identifiable by or before birth. Trans people will be less healthy and less visible. Discrimination is a real and persistent problem for far too many LGBTQ Americans.
