Son of murdered journalist Khashoggi leaves Saudi Arabia

"Information from the Turkish side affirms that the suspects in Khashoggi's case premeditated their crime", said the statement carried by state TV.

Prosecutors are interrogating suspects on the basis of information provided by a joint Saudi-Turkish task force, the al-Ekhbariya report said.

President Trump has been briefed by CIA Director Gina Haspel on the latest in the US investigation into how Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

After first insisting Khashoggi left the consulate unharmed, Saudi authorities said he was killed in an argument that degenerated into a brawl, then admitted he was murdered before finally accepting what Turkey had said earlier - that he was killed in a premeditated hit.

Saudi Arabia says it has signed $56 billion of deals at an investment conference this week and expected the United States to remain a key business partner despite a partial boycott of the event over the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has denied responsibility for Khashoggi's death, referring to the incident as a "heinous crime that can not be justified".

The restructuring was ordered by King Salman after the murder in Istanbul of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Last week, its government changed its story, saying the USA resident and critic of Saudi policy had died in the consulate because of a fight.

Mr Erdogan focused in again on Wednesday on Mr Khashoggi's death.

'She strongly urged Saudi Arabia to cooperate with the Turkish investigation and to be transparent about the results.

Saudi officials have claimed Mr Khashoggi died accidentally in a fight during an unauthorised overseas kidnapping operation.

Turkey has long dismissed the Saudi assertion of an accidental death and has pressed the kingdom to concede that Khashoggi was deliberately targeted for death.

On Wednesday, Trump went a step further and said the crown prince bore ultimate responsibility for the operation that led to the journalist's killing.

According to an Elysee Palace readout of the conversation, Macron pressed his Saudi counterpart for more clarity on what happened to Khashoggi and told him France considers freedom of expression and freedom of the press an "essential priority".

The United States has threatened sanctions if the Saudi leadership is linked to the murder, and on Tuesday revoked the visas of 21 Saudi nationals implicated in the crime.

Initially it was reported Khashoggi's Apple watch may have recorded his brutal murder - but now it seems likely Turkish spies were covertly recording what was happening in the consulate, either using a listening device hidden inside or by aiming a powerful microphone at the building from outside.

"Jamal Khashoggi's body still hasn't been found".

A photograph of the meeting showed Salah staring coldly at the prince as the pair shook hands.
