[BREAKING] 'Missing' Indonesian Lion Air Plane Found Crashed Into The Java Sea

Relatives of passengers comfort each other as they wait for news on a Lion Air plane that crashed off Java Island at Depati Amir Airport in Pangkal Pinang Indonesia Monday Oct. 29,2018

A passenger plane travelling from Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang in Indonesia has crashed into the sea, according to the country's search and rescue agency. "We hope, we pray, but we can not confirm". We are now still trying to dive to find the aircraft.

"We don't know yet whether there are any survivors", Mr Syaugi said.

"At the moment personnel from Karawang water police unit are heading to the coordinates to check whether the information we received was accurate", Waluyo told broadcaster Kompas TV. "We're confused. We hope that our family is still alive", she said. The finance ministry said around 20 of its employees were on the plane.

The aircraft is reportedly a Boeing-737 Max 8, capable of seating up to 210 passengers.

As per his Linkedin profile, Suneja got his pilot license from Bel Air International in 2009 and worked as a trainee with Emirates before joining Lion Air in March 2011 where he flied the Boeing 737. The Max 8 replaced the similar 800 in the Chicago-based planemaker's product line.

The Boeing 737 MAX was bound for Pangkal Pinang where it was expected to land at 7.20am.

The weather at the time of the crash was clear.

Indonesia's Transport Ministry said the plane took off from Jakarta about 6.20 a.m. and crashed just 13 minutes later. The preliminary data shows an increase in speed and decrease in altitude at last transmission. The aircraft was on the way from Indonesian capital Jakarta to the city of Pangkal Pinang.
