Two Saudi sisters found dead, tied together in NY

A passerby called police after spotting the bodies

Police found the girls in New York City past year after the report, which said that Tala may have been with her sister.

Investigators haven't determined how the sisters died. They also, had the pair jumped during daylight, a driver near the busy bridge would have seen them.

The Saudi consulate in NY said that the Consulate General is keeping close tabs on the investigation.

The two bodies were found on Wednesday at around 3:00pm by a passer-by who informed the police.

They were pronounced dead at the scene along the riverbanks on Manhattan's Upper West Side, police said. NY police Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea told The Washington Post "they were not in the water that long".

"We are looking at all clues in their past life", Shea said.

New York City police released images of Tala Farea, 16, and Rotana Farea, 22, who were found dead on October 24 near 68th Street and Riverside Park in Manhattan's Upper West Side neighborhood.

Trump says he doesn't feel betrayed by Saudis
Under mounting worldwide pressure, Saudi Arabia has changed its narrative about Khashoggi's death several times. The worldwide community refused to accept the Saudi claim that the incident was not a premeditated murder.

"The detectives' work has filled in numerous pieces, but there's still some gaps that we would like to fill in and get a real clear picture of what happened in the last two months".

One report claims the sisters had been ordered home to Saudi Arabia and may have feared punishment if they returned.

When their bodies were found there was little known about them but police confirmed on Wednesday that they were Saudi nationals. Their bodies, which had no obvious signs of trauma, were discovered about 225 miles away from Fairfax, Virginia, where they lived and vanished in August. The city medical examiner is still working on determining the cause of death.

They were reported missing again on August 24 this year.

Their mother filed another missing persons report recently but withdrew it after she said her younger daughter called her and told her she was visiting Rotana in the city.

DailyMail.com has learned Rotana, from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was an undergraduate at George Mason University from January 2016 until May of this year. A George Mason spokesman called the news of her death "tragic", and said the university was cooperating with police.

"Sources say police now have a better sense of where the two entered the water and how long they may have been in the water", the broadcaster reported.
