Apple unveils new versions of MacBook air, iPad Pro

Apple to announce new MacBook Air, Mac mini and iPad Pro with FaceID on October 30

But Apple's new iPad Pro, which was announced on Tuesday, has a processor that's almost as fast as high-end laptops, according to an early Geekbench score, which tests processor speeds. Almost 10 years after the launch of the first MacBook Air by the late Steve Jobs, his successor Tim Cook presented on Tuesday the latest version of this PC, just 1.56 cm thick, compared to 1.94 cm (0.75 inches).

Apple has reportedly increased prices of its old Mac computers in India.

The credit behind this beastly performance goes to Apple A12X chipset fitted under the hood of iPad Pro. Both feature Apple's A12X processor, a more powerful version of the chip featured in the latest iPhones that helps deliver a similar graphics performance to an Xbox One S, The Guardian reports.

Also, he hopes there's a future of cross-play ahead between the two platforms.

The new iPads get an improved Pencil as well, that is now capable of charging wirelessly, when it is attached to the iPad from the top.

Apple has removed the Touch ID, which is why it was good to hear that the Face ID works in any orientation.

Joining the iPad Pro at the October keynote was an all-new version of the MacBook Air, a laptop that hasn't received a significant update in years.

The design has changed dramatically, too. The old 13-inch MacBook Air with 128GB storage now retails at Rs 84,900, up from Rs 77,200. The new model also gets the thin "butterfly" keyboard from the standard MacBook, as well as a pair of USB-C inputs.

The rapid improvement in Apple's own chips might explain why company executives didn't want to say "Intel" at its launch event on Tuesday, even though it released new Mac Mini and MacBook Air computers powered by Intel chips.

All model come with flash storage - a faster and more reliable alternative to conventional hard drives - and can be specced with up to 2TB of space, the site adds.
