Iranians Condemn US Arrogant Policies in Nationwide Rallies

Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari speaks during a demonstration outside the former US embassy in the Iranian capital Tehran

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the country will continue selling its oil and break the second batch of sanctions the United States administration reinstated since President Donald Trump unilaterally pulled out of the nuclear deal in May.

The world's three largest producers - Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United States - all indicated they were pumping at record or near-record levels, while the United States said it would allow waivers that could allow buyers to keep importing Iranian oil, lessening the threat of a supply crunch.

"America's goal has been to re-establish the domination it had (before 1979) but it has failed".

He said "economic warfare" was a final bid by Washington to overthrow the Islamic republic after decades of failed attempts.

The crowd chanted "Down with US" and "Death to Israel" during Sunday's rally in the capital, and state TV says similar demonstrations were held in other cities and towns.

The restoration of U.S. sanctions on Monday targeting Iran's oil sales and banking sectors is part of a wider effort by Trump to force Tehran to halt its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes outright, as well as support for proxy forces in conflicts across the Middle East.

With new US sanctions on Iran just hours away, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is warning that they'll really pack an economic punch.

But Mr Rouhani struck a defiant tone, saying that Iran would "continue selling oil".

The European Union has established a mechanism to permit its multinational companies to maintain presences in Iran, but all signs are that the USA sanctions will be dissuasive. "We've done all of this, too, while making sure that American consumers don't suffer", he said, as he avoided giving a direct answer on India and China.

Broncos ‘closing in’ on deal to trade Demaryius Thomas to Texans
The Broncos' warm feelings for Thomas might subside by Sunday when they kick off their Week 9 game against ... the Texans . The team sent a fourth round pick to the Broncos and swapped seventh round picks, according to multiple media reports.

Thousands of Iranians rallied Sunday in commemoration of the 39th anniversary of the takeover and hostage crisis at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, just hours before the re-imposition of all American sanctions lifted by the nuclear deal.

Washington is re-imposing the sanctions after Mr Trump in May pulled out of a 2015 accord aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Tehran -Iran´s annual rally to mark the storming of the United States embassy and hostage-taking of 1979 had particular significance on Sunday on the eve of renewed sanctions by Washington.

General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the elite Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force that oversees its operations overseas, responded to Trump's Game of Thrones-inspired tweet on Friday that warned, "Sanctions are Coming".

"On Monday, November 5, the termination of USA participation in the Iran nuclear deal will be complete".

Diplomats told Reuters last week that the new European Union mechanism to facilitate payments for Iranian exports should be legally in place by November 4 but not operational until early next year.

A senior French diplomat said on Saturday there was no way any trade with this mechanism could be conducted before the end of 2018. "The maximum pressure we imposed has caused the rial to drop dramatically, the country's Cabinet is in disarray, and the Iranian people are raising their voices even louder against a corrupt and hypocritical regime".

General Mohammad Ali Jafari, the commander-in-chief of Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, gave a speech vowing that Iran "can overcome this economic war and failure of the sanctions project is imminent".

Washington has also said that it wanted to stop what it calls Teheran's "malign" activities including cyber attacks, ballistic missile tests, and support for terror groups and militias in the Middle East.
