Cup microscope on Black Caps

Pakistan thrashed New Zealand in the second day-night worldwide in Abu Dhabi on Friday but the team's six-wicket victory over the Black Caps muted by the fact that Imam-ul-Haq left the ground with a head injury when he was on 16.

Pakistan beat New Zealand by six wickets in the second day-night global in Abu Dhabi, levelling the three-match series 1-1 on Friday.

The ODI series is also significant in regards of being a training ground for the upcoming World Cup, and Pakistan are expected to get their combinations and rhythm in order before the major tournament next year.

There was a hint of swing but not for long for game one hat-trick man Trent Boult and Tim Southee. Tom Latham had excuses after he was skittled for one by a brilliant yorker from Shaheen Afridi. Ross Taylor and George Worker steadied the innings. At the end of the 10 over, New Zealand had progressed to 55-2 when Hafeez came on to bowl to Taylor.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of bowlers with 4 for 38 in 9 overs.

Thugs of Hindostan movie review: Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan - starrer disappoints
On one hand, it brought Bollywood's two superstars ( Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan ) together, on-screen, for the first time. A few others even came down hard on the performances of the leading cast and labelled the film as boring and a let-down.

Sarfraz Ahmed, Imad Wasim, and Shoaib Malik tried to lift the innings with half-centuries, they could not fix the damage from the first 20 overs of the innings. Zaman and Babar Azam added 155 runs for opening wicket in 28.2 overs.

A six-wicket victory with 57 balls to spare has seen Pakistan level the series at 1-1 ahead of Monday morning's decider, and they were remarkably untroubled in doing so.

With the ball New Zealand were playing catch-up, even more so when the first wicket didn't fall until the 29th over as Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam swung hard.

New Zealand A endured some anxious moments on the final afternoon before securing a draw in their last tour match against Pakistan A in Abu Dhabi. Hassan Ali picked up two wickets for 59 runs.

Pakistan appeared to be in a stronger position on Friday despite the fact that the Kiwis have an upper hand with a 5-1 winning ratio against the Green Shirts.
