White House vows to yank CNN access again

White House vows to yank CNN access again

A lawsuit by CNN prompted a federal judge to restore Acosta's press pass after the White House suspended it following a testy exchange in which Acosta refused to give up the microphone at a news conference.

CNN has requested an emergency court hearing, saying the White House warned it could revoke correspondent Jim Acosta's press pass again at the end of the month.

The network slammed the plan in a statement.

"These actions threaten all journalists and news organisations".

According to Fox News, "The White House sent a letter to Acosta on Friday that was submitted as evidence in the court filing".

Trump told Fox News he had numerous ideas for dealing with Acosta's confrontational brand of questioning, which has often led to combative encounters at news conferences.

Acosta's "hard pass", which provided expedited access to the White House grounds, was suspended earlier this month after he engaged in a contentious back-and-forth with Trump during a November 7 press conference. "I want to thank the judge for the decision he made today".

Record Audiences Get Set to Make the 2017 Grand National the Biggest To Date
For some , it will be a case of asking which horses have been at their most impressive this season that will give them the clues as to which Grand National horses to bet on .

It's no secret that Trump isn't a big fan of the media, especially CNN, which he has frequently referred to as the "Clinton News Network".

Trump signaled his support for the First Amendment and said he would consider leaving any press conference in which a reporters are acting out of line.

The likelihood that the White House would have been successful in barring Acosta, had they proceeded with their efforts, was slim at best.

"These basic, commonsense practices are necessary for orderly press conferences that are fair to all journalists in attendance", they wrote, adding that "no other reporter" failed to live up to those standards at the November 7 press conference. "It turns out that press access to the White House is grounded very much in tradition rather than in plain-letter law".

Revoking access to the White House because the President objects to questions posed by a credentialed journalist is an act of retaliation prohibited by the 1st Amendment and represents a unsafe development in this Administration's attack on free and independent press.

"People have to behave", he told reporters Friday in response to questions about Acosta, adding, "we're writing up rules and regulations to make our position". "Decorum. You have to practise decorum", Trump said. "I mean, with this stuff you never know what's going to happen".
