Scottish Parties Unite To Slate Theresa May's Brexit Deal In Edinburgh Parliament

BBC bosses have been told broadcasting a TV Brexit debate with just Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn would be a "severe dereliction" of the broadcaster's public responsibility. This is a debate about looking ahead to the vote which is taking place on December 11.

Britain's 52-48 percent 2016 vote to leave the European Union strained the ties of the four-nation United Kingdom because England and Wales voted to leave but a majority in Scotland and Northern Ireland voted to stay.

May said: "Being inside the EU is not an option, so what we have to look at is what is the best option outside the EU because people have voted to leave the EU".

With scores of backbench Conservatives threatening to rebel in the historic "meaningful vote", Mrs May might have to rely on Labour votes and abstentions to save her Brexit deal. "This is an important point in our history", she said.

"A big hit on our economy will mean an increase in local poverty, fewer resources locally to plan and deliver our services, no structured programme to support our local economies and real threats to all aspects of our import and export trade", she said.

Speaking to reporters on her flight to the G20 summit in Argentina, Mrs May made clear she has not given up hope of getting her Brexit deal through Parliament, despite indications she is heading for defeat by a substantial margin in the crunch vote on December 11.

Gyimah said "what has happened with Galileo is a foretaste of the brutal negotiations we will go through that will weaken our national interest, make us poorer, less secure".

"We don't see any alternative coming forward from the Labour Party".

The prime minister was also asked repeatedly whether she had a back-up plan.

"The problem is that people are right to be distrustful, for there is an effort both to frighten and to gull them into acquiescing into a non-Brexit Brexit".

"Instead, what I see from Labour is an attempt to frustrate what the Government is doing to deliver Brexit for the British people".

Mr Brown also claimed "the proposed format, as we understand it, would not give suitable representation to the devolved governments or parliaments, where distinct views on Brexit are held".

More than 80 Conservative MPs have spoken out against Theresa May's Brexit deal - but only a minority have said they intend to vote against it in the Commons. "That is actually a betrayal of the British people".

"I'm very happy to tell President Trump and others that we will have an independent trade policy, because we will have an independent trade policy, we will be able to do trade deals", she said.

May did not directly engage with Abe's warning, saying her negotiated deal was "a good deal for businesses in the United Kingdom, including the many Japanese companies who have made significant investment into the United Kingdom and who will be able to continue on the basis of our deal to trade well with the European Union". "But then we didn't win 100% of the vote ... you can't always get everything that you want", he wrote.
