Epic Games to take on Steam with its own digital games store

Epic Games, the video game developer behind Gears of War, the Unreal Engine, and the Fortnite franchise, announced on Tuesday morning with a post on its website that it will debut its own eponymous digital storefront in the near future.

Fortnite developer Epic Games has spent the past week teasing a huge announcement for The Game Awards, however, the big surprise has been spoiled a few days early thanks to a loose-lipped YouTuber. It's quite the difference when compared to the likes of Steam, which takes a 30% cut in revenue from game sales.

The game mode starts with players being dropped into a little stonehenge looking area with different rocks acting as "rifts" into other peoples' open-world sandboxes.

In another grassroots-building move, developers will be able to allow referral purchases of their games through the Epic Store.

Southampton Confirm The Sacking Of Mark Hughes
Two early goals from Stuart Armstrong and Cedric Soares put the hosts ahead in the 13th and 18th minutes of the meeting. I don't think it would be wise to even consider anything after that. "We just have to try and win every game ".

The rapper is suing Epic for damages and legal fees. and wants his dance moves removed from the game.

Among players of the popular video game, one of the favorite features is the "emote", a quick dance that can be triggered to make the player's character celebrate a particularly thrilling kill or victory.

We're just a day away from the launch of Fortnite season seven and players have plenty to look forward to. The company will cover the first 5% paid out through the revenue-sharing program per game for the first two years. Developers using the Unreal Engine will save another 5% as the 12% include the engine royalty already. This is all set to take place sometime in 2019, but the big news is that developers will get to keep 88% of the revenue.

As a developer ourselves, we have always wanted a platform with great economics that connects us directly with our players. Creators like YouTubers and Twitch streamers will be able to refer players to buy games on the store, where creators can earn money. In both cases, Epic emphasized that the change was the result of the high volume of transactions that have resulted from the overwhelming success of Fortnite. Some games from these publishers get published on Steam because of Steam's reach.
