Tampons could unravel inside body — RECALL ALERT

U by Kotex Sleek Tampons regular

The recall affects the regular absorbency U by Kotex Sleek Tampons that are sold across the us and Canada, with a manufactured date between October 7, 2016 and October 16, 2018.

Kimberly-Clark said in a press release that it was a "quality-related defect" affecting the U by Kotex Sleek regular absorbency tampons produced over two years - between October 7, 2016 and October 16, 2018.

This comes after some consumers have had to seek medical attention to remove tampon pieces that were left in their body. Some consumers have also reported infections or irritation because of it, the company said.

The affected products were sold across Canada.

The company has received reports of tampons unraveling and/or coming apart upon removal.

Product lot number location

HuffPost reached out to Kimberly-Clark for further comment, but the company did not offer any new or additional information.

Retailers have been alerted to remove recalled lot numbers from shelves and to post notifications in stores, the company said. A list of lot numbers of the affected products can be found on the Kimberly-Clark website.

Those who have further questions regarding the recall can contact Kimberly-Clark's consumer service team (1-888-255-3499) between 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.

People with the tampons should stop using them immediately and seek medical help if they begin to suffer any symptoms.
