‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress Dame June Whitfield dead at 93

June Whitfield

Dame June Whitfield has been warmly remembered for her kindness and generosity by stars sharing their experiences of meeting and working with her, often early in their careers.

"If you love doing something, continue with it, that is my philosophy, and I would urge others to do the same". It was her final role. She was always there, always being brilliant.

Tributes for the acting veteran have poured in from co-stars such as Jane Horrocks, Miranda Hart and more.

When Whitfield was appointed with the honor of damehood at the age of 92, Charles, Prince of Wales told her this celebration had been "some time coming".

At 89, she appeared in EastEnders as Sister Ruth, a nun with a secret about Kat Moon.

Trump defends Syria pullout during surprise visit to Iraq
The base, in Anbar province, became one of the most important bases for US Marines after the 2003 US invasion of Iraq. He explained that "Islamic State" terrorist organization is defeated and the USA has completed its mission in Syria.

Joanna Lumley has described herself as "heartbroken" at the news of her friend's passing.

Impressionist Rory Bremner called Whitfield the "go-to comedy actress for three generations".

She wrote on Twitter: "I had to check her dressing room was ready". Instead, she appeared in more than 1,300 episodes of radio and television shows in her seven-decade career. On being upgraded from a OBE to a CBE in 1998 she joked of her success: "I always said that the first one stood for Old But Energetic. I cried then too".

While Absolutely Fabulous producer Jon Plowman said that "there was no-one with more warmth or a better ability to just place a line, always an act of utter precision". She had no airs nor graces, arrived on public transport, and her only rider was a bag of ready salted crisps.

She was prominent in the Carry On series and the sitcom Terry and June with Terry Scott in the '80s before playing a vital role in Absolutely Fabulous. Always graceful & elegant with a real comic glint in her eye & (absolutely) fabulous timing'.
