Putin claims to be ready for negotiations with Trump

Putin attends a meeting with businessmen in Moscow

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in a radio program aired Sunday he hopes to have a "specific discussion" with Russian President Vladimir Putin on a peace treaty between the two countries when the leaders meet next month. Vladimir Putin responded with announcement that Moscow would be developing new missiles. His recent statement however may pave the way for more stable US-Russia relations.

The events are believed to be carefully stage-managed to appeal to the president's huge number of supporters in Russian Federation.

The two countries collaborated actively in worldwide and regional affairs and played important constructive roles in safeguarding global fairness and justice as well as world peace and stability, he said.

The last 12 months have been marked by the intensifying scrutiny of special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian electoral interference, Trump's significant departures from recent US foreign policy in the Mideast and Europe - two areas of renewed focus for Putin - and perhaps most notably the remarkable July summit and subsequent press conference between the two leaders in Helsinki.

Putin hailed the "significant potential" of Russia's relations with various countries including Japan, France and Germany, saying that Russian Federation looks forward to continuing constructive dialogue with their leaders and promoting cooperation in various fields.

3 dead, 79 missing after gas explosion rocks Russia high-rise
The emergencies ministry said on its web site that the section of the building could have collapsed due to a natural gas blast. Emergency workers have evacuated residents of nearby sections of the building, fearing they could also tumble down.

The US President pinned the cancellation on Russia's refusal to release Ukrainian Navy ships and sailors seized during a maritime confrontation between the two countries on November 25.

Also on Monday, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev exchanged New Year greetings.

Russian Federation denies that the missile violates the INF Treaty and accuses the United States of inventing a false pretext to exit the treaty in order to develop new missiles.

The calendars are reported to be selling especially well in Japan, where website SoraNews24 said Mr Putin had achieved "an nearly cult-like status among some Japanese women".
