Ellen DeGeneres really wants Kevin Hart to host the Oscars

Kevin Hart and Ellen De Generes at the 2017 People's Choice Awards

Ellen DeGeneres is facing backlash from some parts of the LGBT+ community, particularly queer people of colour, after backing Kevin Hart to host this year's Oscars.

He then apologised to the LGBTQI community.

"Now all of a sudden it's a little darker", he continues, "because the conversation isn't about me hosting the Oscars, the conversation is about Kevin Hart's tweets from ten years ago and homophobia".

During a lengthy interview on her syndicated talk show, DeGeneres, herself a two-time Oscar host, encouraged Hart to take back the hosting gig. I have made mistakes and I have embraced them all because I am a better man today because of it.

While talking to DeGeneres, Hart revealed he was reconsidering his decision to step down as host after controversy surfaced from old homophobic tweets, and his refusal to apologize for them at the time.

Hart told her that when his old messages resurfaced, "what was once the brightest light ever just got real dark". "So I don't know the flawless individual that society is now looking for - it's not me", Kevin told Ellen.

Of course, it will be a challenge but this is what we want. "For tonight, the boys tried everything, and we got nothing for it. Stones cleared a potential own goal off the line in the first half during a wild sequence.

Meghan McCain says it's Hart's apology that "hasn't really come up to snuff yet".

Hart still had his reservations about returning, explaining, "It's tough for me because it was an attack". I look at life through a different lens, and because of that I live it a different way ... "We want him to host the Oscars.'" TV Guide has reached out the Academy to confirm that this conversation happened as DeGeneres said it happened. I don't want to hear a hostile retelling of how we didn't hear your meager apology the first time. Leaving here, I'm promising you I'm evaluating this conversation ...

In a Friday rant, Schneider, 55, defended his peers, tweeting "comics are the ones who are supposed to say the terrible things we all think but don't".

"The next morning, after a day full of congratulations and celebrations, I'm hit with an onslaught on social media of my past coming back up again".

Rob Schneider is standing by Louis C.K. and Kevin Hart. "But me, being a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will", Hart said in the routine. Either I can move forward as a person or I can't. "To go back through 40,000 tweets to get back to 2008 that's an attack, that's a malicious attack on my character, that's an attack to end me, that's not an attack to just stop the Oscars". We're still a month out from the 2019 Academy Awards, but there has been no shortage of contention, especially when it comes to the (lack of a) host.

He previously apologized for the tweets, and did so again in December. "I hope we can meet again".
