Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins declares for National Football League draft

Bringing in Justin Fields is ruthless but that’s how it should be at Ohio State

Quarterback Justin Fields confirmed Friday night he is transferring to Ohio State following one season as Georgia's backup. Fields completed 27-of his 39 for 328 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in his 12 appearances, and he also rushed 42 times for 266 yards and four touchdowns.

If declared eligible, Fields would compete to become Ohio State's starting quarterback in 2019 if Dwayne Haskins declares for the NFL Draft as expected.

He will be going on an official visit this weekend enrolling in classes, which start next week. Tate Martell, another five-star recruit, was likely to inherit the reins if Haskins opts to go pro.

It has been documented that in September, during a game against Tennessee, a Georgia baseball player allegedly shouted racial slurs at Fields. He came to Athens thinking he could beat out Jake Fromm.

Spurs fans rain down boos on Kawhi Leonard during player introductions
DeRozan is averaging just over 23 points a night, but lately has been stealing Lowry's game plan and bumping his assist totals. In 33 minutes of action, DeRozan notched 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting, and he also recorded 14 rebounds and 11 assists.

NCAA rules would require Fields to sit out next season if he transfers, though he could request a waiver to become immediately eligible. Both are close and have trained with quarterbacks coach Quincy Avery. Martell has already made some interesting comments with regards to Fields, even before it was officially reported that he would be heading to Ohio State.

A Heisman Trophy finalist, Haskins put up huge numbers in his first season as the Buckeyes' starter.

Fields said he would make no further comment on his transfer and referred any questions to the Ohio State sports information department.
