Criminal Minds, one of television's longest-running procedurals, is coming to an end.

We have good news and bad news for you, Criminal Minds fans.

CBS has renewed the crime drama for its 15th and final season, ET can confirm.

Season 15 will consist of 10 episodes, which will be shot back-to-back. Production will continue straight into Season 15, which is slated for ten episodes.

The procedural has been picked up for a 10-episode final season, CBS announced on Thursday. "We are so proud to have aired it", said Amy Reisenbach, CBS' EVP current programs, according to the outlet. ABC Studios produces in association with CBS Television Studios.

The long-running crime drama about a group of Federal Bureau of Investigation behavioral profilers recently celebrated its 300th episode.

The decision to pick up a final installment was made just months ago when longtime executive producer/showrunner Erica Messer was writing the final episodes of Season 14 and asked the powers that be whether to make the ending a season finale with a cliffhanger or a series finale.

Criminal Minds features an ensemble cast and previous stars include Jennifer Love Hewitt, Mandy Patinkin and Thomas Gibson.

That's some rarified air "Criminal Minds" has found itself in. "I don't have the endgame in mind yet", she said at the time.

"That journey has changed a lot from the early days on the show because I wouldn't have anticipated all the changes that've happened".

It seems that perhaps the trouble that has brewed behind the scenes of Criminal Minds may also have something to do with the series' impending end. I think everyone will be really sad, and I know this cast especially is so fond of one another, they are truly a family.
