John Major: let's take time out and revoke article 50

BRITAIN-POLITICS-EU-BREXIT

On the other side of the divide on Britain's departure from the European Union, Mr Raab has said Mrs May's deal "suffocates the opportunities Brexit offers".

MPs are due to vote on her withdrawal agreement on Tuesday night, but it is widely anticipated that it will be defeated, with backbench Brexiteers and the DUP vehemently opposed to both the Northern Irish backstop clause and the £39bn divorce bill.

Mrs May said the United Kingdom risks crashing out of the European Union without a deal or, if MPs are "unwilling" to face the uncertainty of no deal, then the United Kingdom may not leave at all.

Hunt warned: "If we were, as a political class, not to deliver Brexit, that would be a fundamental breach of trust between the people and the politicians".

Failure to deliver Brexit would be "incredibly damaging" for democracy and something the United Kingdom would regret for "many, many generations", he said.

The Prime Minister said failing to deliver what the public voted for in the referendum would be "unforgivable" and undermine democracy.

Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat leader Vince Cable said it would be "outrageous and unforgivable" if a no-deal Brexit was allowed to happen, adding: "I think Parliament will take control of this process, will insist that we pursue the option of no Brexit".

Though Ohio State fans would gladly remind you that the Buckeyes put up 62 points in a 23-point win in November. Ohio State's 2018 linebackers coach, Bill Davis, was let go by the Buckeyes' new head coach, Ryan Day.

'If EU intransigence persists, we must be willing to leave the EU at the end of March on World Trade Organisation terms. We have seen from this week that Parliament has the ability to assert itself and to shape outcomes.

Speaking on BBC One's Andrew Marr Show, Mr Corbyn said: "We will table a motion of no confidence in the government at a time of our choosing, but it's going to be soon, don't worry about it".

MPs continue to be divided on the plans, with a number of pro-Remainers calling for Mrs May's deal to be voted down, and some ardent Leavers pushing for the same result to ensure a no-deal Brexit.

Mrs May was boosted on Thursday by two Tory backbenchers - her former policy adviser George Freeman, and Trudy Harrison - indicating they would back her deal as well as by a call from Japanese PM Shinzo Abe for the United Kingdom to avoid a no-deal.

Asked whether she agreed with Mr Hunt that the United Kingdom could thrive after a no-deal Brexit, Ms Rudd told Today: "This is a strong and great country, we will find a way to succeed but I do not think that no-deal would be good for this country and I'm committed to making sure we find an alternative".

Blocking Brexit could lead to a surge in far-right extremism in the United Kingdom, the transport secretary has said.

Northern Ireland Secretary Karen Bradley said a no-deal exit would create a "feeling of unrest".
