Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appointed to panel overseeing financial sector

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, has secured a seat on the influential House Financial Services Committee.

A surprising new poll reported how many Americans believe that the 70 percent tax rate for the top income margin is a good idea.

It also ensures enforcement of housing and consumer protection laws such as the U.S. Housing Act, the Truth In Lending Act, the Housing and Community Development Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, and financial privacy laws.

The 29-year-old Democratic socialist claimed on Twitter that she understood Trump "like the back of my hand", comparing him to men she encountered bartending in NY.

Wall Street had better brace itself, because the House Financial Services Committee is about to be loaded with some big names from the left wing of the Democratic Party. But the second vote will likely be akin to a rubber stamp now that the steering committee has already approved her membership.

The panel will be chaired by Rep. Maxine Waters, California Democrat.

Ocasio-Cortez and Tlaib both identify as democratic socialists.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to sit on this committee as a freshman, and look forward to working under the leadership of @RepMaxineWaters!"

Ocasio-Cortez wants to raise taxes to pay for her "Green New Deal", a fiscal juggernaut ostensibly aimed at fighting climate change that could dwarf Great Society expenditures.
