Trump slams USA intelligence chiefs as 'passive and naive' on Iran

Trump's string of tweets came after the leaders of the top national intelligence agencies on Tuesday released their annual report on worldwide security threats.

Trump had met in 2018, with the North Korean ruler Kim Jong-Un.

When declaring he was immediately going to pull the U.S. out of Syria, the president claimed the U.S. has defeated ISIS.

US Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said: "We continue to assess that Iran is not now undertaking the key nuclear weapons-development activities we judge necessary to produce a nuclear device".

The testy response came after a United States intelligence report said Iran was not making nuclear weapons.

In his arguments posted to Twitter, Trump accused Tehran of actively seeking nuclear weapons, reiterating the justification he gave for withdrawing previous year from a multilateral treaty on Iran.

Wednesday, President Trump insisted that the United States relationship with NKorea "is the best it has ever been".

"No, I disagree with certain things that they said". Be careful of Iran.

Trump will secure border ‘with or without Congress,’ Mulvaney says
Also expected is a new date for the president to deliver his State of the Union address, postponed during the shutdown. Moreover, calling the president's planned border wall "immoral" simply admits that it works.

Suh Hoon, director of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), said he expected the two sides to begin discussing major topics for the proposed summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

It was not the first time the president has split with senior intelligence officials on national security assessments. Late a year ago, the president refused to accept the CIA's assessment that there was strong evidence that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was responsible for the gruesome murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, and declined to sanction the Saudis for the killing.

"They are wrong!" Trump, whose has criticized USA intelligence agencies starting even before he took office, said in a Twitter post.

On Wednesday, the President chastised the intelligence community as a whole for being soft on Iran and implied that he had a better sense of dangers posed by the Islamic Republic than those who had testified on the matter the day before.

The information the officials presented in Congress was polar opposite to Mr Trump's views on both countries, with the President frequently stating North Korea was moving towards denuclearisation, while claiming Iran were building their nuclear arsenal.

CIA Director Gina Haspel said "it is positive that we have managed to engage them in dialogue" but "ultimately the objective is to lessen that threat by getting them to declare that program and ultimately to dismantle that program".

Coats appeared to contradict that when he said Tehran was complying with the deal - even after Trump announced America's withdrawal from it in May. After the 2016 election and before he took office in 2017, Trump was publicly skeptical of intelligence conclusions that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 presidential election, and he mocked intelligence agencies for their role in the lead-up to the Iraq War.

The CIA and the director of national intelligence office did not comment on Trump's remarks.
