Medical Emergency Knocks Robert Whittaker Out of the UFC 234 Main Event

Nigeria’s UFC World Middleweight title contender Israel Adesanya

A non-title middleweight bout between rising star Israel Adesanya (15-0) and Anderson Silva (34-8) will now headline UFC 234, which sold out in minutes when tickets first went on sale.

MELBOURNE, Australia - An abdominal hernia has forced UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker out of his highly anticipated title defense against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 234, just hours before doors were scheduled to open at Rod Laver Arena.

ESPN first reported the news and said Whittaker's withdrawal was not a result of weight cutting issues. Whittaker reportedly complained of pain in his abdomen around midnight of the previous night and was soon taken to the hospital.

Other fights on the UFC 234 main card include Rani Yahya vs. Ricky Simon (Bantamweight), Montana De La Rosa vs. Nadia Kassem (Women Flyweight) and Jim Crute vs. Sam Alvey (Light Heavyweight).

This is something that Battle Royale competitor Fortnite does not have, yet it's the number one requested feature from players. The reality of playing with friends across different platforms is still new, so it should gain more traction as time goes on.

For all the good luck that the UFC had in keeping fights scheduled through January, February is not starting off the same way. Lando Vannata and Marcos Mariano's lightweight matchup will also be elevated to co-main status.

He is a heavy favorite going up against the 43-year old Silva, who has not fought in two years, and a victory should catapult the entertaining Style Bender into the main event scene.
