Broncos to acquire quarterback Joe Flacco from Baltimore

Joe Flacco

Though the deal is agreed upon, it can't be announced yet as NFL rules prohibit teams from discussing trades until the start of the league year on March 13.

Flacco, 34, has no more guaranteed money on his contract.

So what did adding a former Super Bowl MVP do to those odds?

The Broncos also have the No. 10 pick of the draft, with picks in the upper third of the second and third rounds as well. And in the coming weeks and months, the Broncos could try to trade Keenum, release him or, yes, keep him. In his last four seasons as starter he went 24-27 after a 72-40 mark in his first seven.

He is 96-67 as a starter in the regular season and 10-5 in postseason games. But the Broncos just took one starting job off the market. The following year, Siemian battled with the returning Osweiler and Paxton Lynch, but was the only Broncos quarterback to win a game.

Confirming Broncos have agreement on trade for Baltimore QB Joe Flacco.

Flacco arrived in Baltimore in 2008, which was Broncos new head coach Vic Fangio's previous year as the assistant head coach (he stayed on in Baltimore in "09 as a linebackers coach)".

The Broncos have Case Keenum under contract for 2019 at $21 million. Keenum regressed significantly in 2018, however, and it became clear that the Broncos needed to prioritize landing a quarterback of the future in the offseason.

Longtime Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco will be a Raven nevermore. Since Manning's retirement, Denver's quarterback situation, driven by GM/President of Football Operations John Elway, has been a relative disaster.

On the heels of rookie signal caller Lamar Jackson getting the starting job with the Ravens and leading the team to the postseason this past year, Baltimore has reportedly chose to send its Super Bowl winning quarterback and person whose career is essentially one big meme to the Denver Broncos.

The rise of Lamar Jackson in Baltimore made Flacco's fate seem certain: He would either be waived or dealt.
