Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers set to return to Premier League

Brendan Rodgers

Scottish champions Celtic have given Brendan Rodgers permission to talk to Leicester about the English Premier League club's managerial vacancy.

It is fair to say that Celtic fans weren't overly pleased to see Brendan Rodgers swap the manager's job at Parkhead for the hotseat at the King Power Stadium with Leicester City earlier this week and they let their feelings be known on Wednesday night.

It feels great, it's obviously come very quickly and obviously, of course, over the last few days, but I know I'm joining a fantastic club that has grown so quickly over these last few years.

In his first season as manager of Celtic, Rodgers won the 2016-17 title and became the first boss to complete a Scottish top-flight season unbeaten for 118 years.

"I don't want this disrupting the flow".

Lennon, who left his role as Hibernian boss last month, said: "I am absolutely delighted to be named manager of Celtic again".

Rodgers is no stranger to the Premier League, having steered a Luis Suarez-inspired Liverpool to within touching distance of the title in 2013-14 before getting sacked in October 2015.

Rodgers headed north to Scotland after leaving Anfield and had been in charge at Celtic for nearly three years, winning every piece of domestic silverware on offer.

He told Sky Sports: "He loves the club".

"He gave the club so much and has created so many wonderful memories for the Club and our supporters". He has dominated Scottish football and ensured that Celtic has enjoyed unprecedented domestic success.

Lennon also revealed that he had not decided whether he would take his place in the dugout at Tynecastle, despite a statement from Celtic on Tuesday suggesting that he would take charge immediately.
