Congressional panel launches sweeping probe into Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks at the Conservative Political Action Conference annual meeting at National Harbor in Oxon Hill Maryland

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, the chairman of the House committee that would be in charge of impeachment says the panel is requesting documents Monday from more than 60 people from Trump's administration, family and business as part of a rapidly expanding Russian Federation investigation.

When they took control of the U.S. House of Representatives in January, Democrats promised investigations on multiple fronts involving Trump, saying their Republican counterparts had ignored red flags coming out of the White House.

"Tomorrow [Monday], we will be issuing document requests to over 60 different people and individuals from the White House to the Department of Justice", he said.

In addition to the White House, Nadler is also seeking information from Trump family members, like Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Jared Kushner; from former administration figures like former chief of staff Reince Priebus, former national security adviser Mike Flynn, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former spokeswoman Hope Hicks; and from Trump campaign figures like Brad Parscale and Corey Lewandowski. But he said, "The claim that there is no evidence is factually wrong".

"House [of Representatives], they've ginned up all this excitement over this... their base expects them to do something, and they want to impeach Trump, but they're not going to be able to impeach Trump".

They said they intend to probe "the substance of any communications during in-person encounters and phone calls, the existence and contents of any documents related to the communications, what the effects of the communications have been on the nation's foreign policy, whether the president or anyone acting on his behalf have sought to hide those communications and whether the president or anyone acting on his behalf have failed to create records or mishandled those records in violation of federal law".

Trump maintains that his campaign did not collude with Russian Federation and has repeatedly attacked the investigation, Mueller and the Mueller staff on Twitter.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh updated the box office figures of the film . "He wrote, "#LukaChuppi zooms upwards on Day 2. As a result, 10 crores* came for this Laxman Utekar directed film which is now set for further growth today.

The list, which asks for materials concerning possible obstruction of justice by the president, or possible conspiracy between Trump associates and Russian officials, marks the opening salvo of what some expect to be a fight between Congress and the Justice Department over Mueller's files.

Democrats say talk of impeachment is premature.

Regarding the Mueller probe, ABC Newschief anchor George Stephanopoulos asked Nadler, "Do you think the president obstructed justice?". The panel also is looking at whether Trump has used the White House for personal enrichment in violation of the Constitution's emoluments clause.

In a statement Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders acknowledged receipt of Nadler's letter to the White House and said officials "will review it and respond at the appropriate time".

Trump, since returning from his collapsed summit in Hanoi last week with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has resumed his Twitter attacks on Mueller's investigation and the growing number of inquiries in Congress. "He tried to protect Flynn from being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation".
