Steelers-Bills Antonio Brown Trade Is Dead

After nearly seven hours of peak social media drama, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane set the record straight Friday morning about a potential trade between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Bills for disgruntled wide receiver Antonio Brown. The reported trade picked up steam, and the speculation machine kicked in, as people tried to figure out how Brown would fit in with Josh Allen and the Bills.

Reports earlier in the week indicated that the Steelers anticipated a deal being done by Friday.

This morning, Rapoport tweeted out that after intense talks that went into last night, and nearly getting there on trade compensation, Buffalo says they are out. "The Steelers now must find another suitor".

According to The MMQB's Albert Breer, Brown made it known that he didn't want a trade to the Bills.

What do you think about the potential deal that fell through on Brown?

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio also was told Rapoport's report was "erroneous". Brown had apparently torpedoed the trade, due to a disinterest in playing for Buffalo. Steelers and Bills briefly talked but "this is an old story. As great a player as Antonio Brown is, we have moved on and our focus is on free agency".

Now? We know who's in control: It's Brown, not the Steelers. Brown demanded a trade after Pittsburgh's season ended.

As of last Friday, the three teams that had shown the most interest in the wide receiver were the Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans. It is likely Brown will want a restructured contract from any team that acquires him.

It seemed like Brown was set to go to Buffalo.

In 15 games last season, Brown had 1,297 yards receiving on 104 catches with a league-leading 15 touchdowns.
