Democrats Keep Trying to Cover Up Their Anti-Semitism

Speaking outside the White House before departing for Alabama Friday morning, the president had said that recent comments by Democratic Rep. Rep.

The party's House leadership reworded the statement to include other forms of bigotry - all while facing pressure from progressive Democrats who are defending Omar.

Watch: Trump calls on Rep.

Before the resolution was passed, Trump took to social media to blast "House Democrats" for failing to take a stronger stance against anti-Semitism.

Schatz again tried to keep the focus on pressing policy issues.

Rep. IIhan Omar has shown her earlier apology for using anti-Semitic tropes on twitter was insincere with her continued unapologetic use of anti-Semitic tropes and her tone-deaf statement on the passage of the House's watered-down resolution against hate speech. The final resolution did not mention Omar by name.

That change followed intense internal debate among House Democrats, some of whom thought Omar was being unfairly targeted over her comments as a woman of color and a Muslim.

Goldberger previously defended Palm Beach multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein against charges of trafficking underage girls for sex. She was not charged in the case, and none of the parlors that were part of the bust are registered to her or her family.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., one of the resolution's lead sponsors, pushed back in an interview on MSNBC on Sunday afternoon. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y. "If that member had been a Republican, that member's name would be in this resolution and this resolution would be all about condemning anti-Semitism, and it would be done so forcefully". The same can't be said for their colleagues across the aisle, 23 of whom voted against the measure condemning white supremacy.

It is unclear if the Cruz resolution, unlike the House version, will call out Omar or any members of Congress explicitly.

Omar, who has not shied away from criticizing the actions of the Israeli government, became embroiled in a backlash after saying at an event last week, "I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country". "That's wrong", Sanders said. "I do not believe she understood the full weight of her words", claimed Pelosi. "Our nation is having a hard conversation".

Now, they're on record as opposing a seven-page resolution that didn't do much more than declare that anti-Semitism, anti-Muslim discrimination and other forms of plain bigotry "are contrary to the values of aspirations of the United States".

Democrats have defended the resolution by pointing to other instances of hate that carry more violent sentiments, including a poster found in the West Virginia Capitol that suggested a link between Omar and the 9/11 attacks.

"The president's own words have fueled the fire of intolerance and targeting of Jews, and Republicans have failed to condemn the president's remarks in the same way that Democrats were quick to rebuke Representative Omar".

They worry they could run into trouble on another bill, their signature ethics and voting reform package, if Republicans try to tack their own anti-Semitism bill on as an amendment.
