Odell Beckham’s Instagram Post After Browns Trade Going Viral

Former Michigan S Jabrill Peppers traded from Cleveland

Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin is a lifelong fan of both the New York Jets and New York Giants, and he isn't taking the Odell Beckham Jr. trade news particularly well.

The New York Football Giants announced Wednesday that they acquired guard Kevin Zeitler, safety Jabrill Peppers and a pair of draft picks from the Cleveland Browns (pending physicals) in a trade. Instead, they handed Beckham a five-year, $90 million contract extension with over $40 million in guarantees.

In Cleveland, OBJ will get to play with good friend Jarvis Landry and quarterback Baker Mayfield who was in the running to win rookie of the year honors last season.

Some of the talking heads on ESPN are suggesting the Giants might package the 6th and 17th first round picks to move up a few slots and take a QB to replace Eli Manning.

If things go terribly wrong, the Browns, barring a restructure, can get out of the deal without a salary-cap hit after the 2020 season.

In other words, Beckham if he wanted, could potentially raise a stink about the trade and wanting a new contract - a la Antonio Brown to the Bills in a deal that fell through - and create some issues.

Odell Beckham #13 of the New York Giants carries the ball in front of Tank Carder #59 of the Cleveland Browns during the third quarter at FirstEnergy Stadium on November 27, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio.

The fast-breaking Browns are all set to fill the LeBron void in Cleveland. The worry is that eventually, he will wear out his welcome as he did in NY. If they do, I feel sorry for that quarterback.

Vernon, 28, is coming off his first Pro Bowl season after piling up seven sacks and a forced fumble over 11 games.

With the trade of Beckham, the offense has lost its top playmaker, although one could argue the Giants started shifting that role to halfback Saquon Barkley last season.
