Southwest and American Airlines are the US carriers using the most 737 Max jets, but the beleaguered aircraft are less than 5 percent of the fleet for each company.

Regulators around the world grounded the Boeing 737 Max 8 and Max 9 aircraft over safety concerns arising from the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines flight that killed everyone on board, including 18 Canadians.

In a statement signed by the Director General of the agency, Silas Udahemuka, the authority said that the ban takes effect immediately and remain in effect till further notice.

Boeing, the world's largest aerospace company, has recently come under fire following two fatal crashes that involved its brand new 737 MAX 8 jets, which entered into service less than two years ago.

Transport Minister Marc Garneau said at a news conference on Wednesday that the decision to ground the planes is a precautionary move after reviewing the evidence.

French investigators took possession on Thursday of the black boxes recovered from the scene of the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash, seeking clues about the causes of a disaster that has grounded Boeing's 737 Max fleet worldwide.

Within a minute of the flight's departure, Captain Yared Getachew reported a "flight control" problem as the aircraft was well below the minimum safe height during a climb, the newspaper reported, citing the source. ANA plans to purchase 30 of the 737 Max 8 planes from 2021.

The investigations into both 737 Max crashes are underway, and expected to focus on the automated controls.

"I am confirming that we are pausing delivery of 737 Max due to the temporary grounding", the official said. We hear from two aviation experts on the future of aviation safety and whether a lack of pilot training may have played a role.

In the simulator, Aimer took off from the same airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, bound for Nairobi, Kenya, "flying" something like the Boeing 737 Max 8, a model that has since been grounded in the US after the crash in Ethiopia earlier this month and another like it months before.

The Max is the latest upgrade to the Boeing 737s.

If you're scheduled to fly on a 737 MAX 8 plane, or not sure what kind of plane your flight is on, check your flight status with your airline.

Insurance implications According to Allianz's director of marketing and communications of the U.S. Daniel Durazo, Allianz has received 20 calls and 25 claims from customers who have had their trips impacted by thr groundings and it doesn't foresee a significant number of calls or claims from the groundings.
