Lisa Page: Yeah, Obama's DOJ Killed the Prosecution of Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton at Clinton Foundation event

In these transcripts of Page's testimony, released by ranking minority committee member Rep. Doug Collins, we learned, among other things, that Strzok looked at the Mueller investigation as his ticket to advancement in an FBI leading the impeachment effort against President Trump. FBI officials, including then-Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, debated internally how vigorously to follow up on that information given that Democrat Hillary Clinton was seen at the time as likely to defeat Trump, and an aggressive investigation had the potential of exposing the source. "And we don't do it".

"I can tell you that in no way would that extramarital affair have any power in coercing me to do anything other than obeying the law and doing honest, competent investigation", Strzok said. Both interviews took place last summer.

Strzok said he "very much" regretted his text exchanges with Page, who also spoke with congressional investigators in July; a transcript of those proceedings was released earlier this week. Page wrote to Strzok on August 8, 2016.

Graham also told Fox News on Wednesday that he also wanted a special counsel to investigate "potential crimes" by officials in the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Doug Collins, released an interview transcript Thursday as part of a GOP effort to paint the early days of the Russian Federation probe as tainted by law enforcement bias.

However, the transcripts released on Thursday show that Strzok told the committee Mueller never asked him if the sentiment reflected in that text had any influence on decisions made during the Trump-Russia probe.

Strzok also said Comey initially concluded Clinton had shown "gross negligence" in how she handled classified information - a finding that could lead to charges - but dialed that back to "extreme carelessness" by the time he finished his memo.

Strzok recalled that he disagreed that a candidate's electability should be part of the equation.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) blocked that resolution when it reached the Senate, calling for an investigation into Hillary Clinton to be undertaken first.
