Champions League predictions: Barcelona to beat Man United? City to edge Spurs?

El gol de Messi al Manchester United en la final de la Champions 2011 en Wembley

The Champions League is heating up and everyone is counting down the days until Manchester United and FC Barcelona meet in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final.

We will play the first leg at home on Tuesday 9 April, kick-off 8pm, with the second leg to be played away on Wednesday 17 April, kick-off 8pm.

Pep Guardiola, the only coach left in the Champions League to have won it previously, is under pressure to deliver European glory at City, and this is a good draw overall, considering they have avoided Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool and neighbours United.

The victor of Tottenham and City takes on the victor of Juventus and Ajax.

He was brought in as first choice left back for the Reds, but poor form led him to be loaned to Fulham later that year and then sold the next season to Leicester.

Jurgen Klopp's side, fresh from knocking out Bayern Munich in the last 16, will be confident of beating the Portuguese champions after defeating them 5-0 on aggregate in the last 16 on their way to the final last season.

Manchester United were paired with Barcelona, while Ajax will be taking on Juventus.

United have to find a way to stop Lionel Messi, but that will be just one of many challenges facing caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who famously scored the winning goal for United in their 1999 Champions League final win against Bayern Munich at Camp Nou.

The Reds have won each of the last five meetings with the Cottagers across all competitions - a new club record run versus the London side.

"I think it might be a step too far to go and win the Champions League this season".

Last year, Cristiano Ronaldo was bought by Juventus, a team which has lost two finals in the past four years, to end that 23-year wait.

That result ended Atletico's dreams of reaching the final, which will be played at their Wanda Metropolitano stadium on Saturday, June 1.

With Pep Guardiola's team top of the Premier League, 13 points ahead of Spurs in third, City will be the favourites to advance to their first semi-final since 2016.
