UK police outside Ecuador embassy amid WikiLeaks tweets that Assange may leave

People have continued to gather outside London's Ecuadorian Embassy, where Julian Assange was originally granted asylum seven-years ago.

But Assange wanted to stay where he was.

The reason for Assange's asylum ending is the leak of documents that contained WhatsApp and Telegram as well as Gmail messages by Ecuador's president Lenin Moreno. "The government won't comment on the current unfounded rumors, which are also insulting", Jose Valencia said on Twitter.

The group said it has been told about the decision by a "high level source" from the South American country.

A few Assange supporters turned up as the news went out and remained outside the embassy in west London on Friday along with a media pack and armed police.

In a separate statement also issued in Geneva on Friday, the United Nations special rapporteur on the right to privacy, Joe Cannataci, said that he planned to meet Assange on April 25 "after receiving assurances from the Government of Ecuador that it will facilitate his visit to the country's embassy in London".

Then in October, Assange filed suit against Ecuador after they decided to make him, among other things, clean his own bedroom and bathroom and pick up his cat's shits.

A British friend said Assange was "prepared" for expulsion from the building he has lived in for almost seven years, after Ecuador's President Lenin Moreno said he had "repeatedly violated" the terms of his asylum.

WikiLeaks argued in a statement Friday that forcing Assange out of the embassy would be illegal and a violation of worldwide law on refugees.

WikiLeaks claims that, as a result of this leak, Ecuadorian officials have told Assange to pack his bags and that arrangements for his immediate arrest upon leaving the embassy have already been made.

"We should ensure Mr Assange's life is not at risk but he's violated the agreement we have with him so many times", Moreno said, according to the report.

Assange has been at the London embassy building since 2012, but if he leaves, he'll likely face arrest through a warrant that remains in effect through the city's police department.

The WikiLeaks statement comes two days after Mr Moreno accused Assange of repeatedly violating the terms of his asylum. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to discuss the matter.

The US wants Assange after Wikileaks hacked documents on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
