Barr: ‘I Think Spying Did Occur’ Against Trump Campaign

Barr says he's starting an inquiry into 'spying' on Trump campaign

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday she doesn't trust Attorney General William Barr and suggested his statements alleging President Donald Trump's campaign was spied on undermine Barr's independence as the nation's top law enforcement officer. Barr said on Wednesday he intends to send the Mueller report to Congress next week.

"The question is whether it was predicated, adequately predicated, and I'm not suggesting it wasn't adequately predicated, but I think I need to explore that".

At the Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing, Democratic Senator Brian Schatz pressed Barr on his use of the term "spying", which he called "unnecessarily inflammatory".

"I believe there is a basis for my concern, but I'm not going to discuss it", Barr said.

"Although the President would have the right to assert privilege over certain parts of the report", Barr wrote in that letter, "he has stated publicly that he intends to defer to me and, accordingly, there are no plans to submit the report to the White House for a privilege review".

"Congress is usually concerned about intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies staying in their proper lane and I want to make sure that happened", he said. "The post-Watergate reforms are being dismantled, one by one".

Barr said he did not believe the evidence in the report was sufficient to prove the president had obstructed justice.

Musgraves is the first artist to win the Grammy, ACM Award , and CMA Award for Album Of The Year since Taylor Swift in 2010. Grammy award album of the year victor Kacey Musgraves was glaringly absent from the all-male nominees top category.

"We're going to have to make some hard choices", Barr said.

And he admitted Tuesday that he "was not interested in putting out summaries" of the investigators' conclusions - even though the Mueller's team had itself prepared summaries for quick release.

Co-host Willie Geist asked Coons if he is "confident" he will see the unredacted Mueller report.

Appearing before the Senate appropriations committee, Barr was asked about his order for the FBI to examine the origins of the Russian Federation investigation, something Trump himself has asked for. Barr has circulated the legislation to the Department of Justice for review and comment.

According to a brief summary released by Trump's attorney general, Bill Barr, Mueller found no evidence of deliberate collusion between Trump and Russian Federation. The president did not name them but has previously blamed Justice Department officials and former FBI Director James Comey. And I'm not suggesting that it wasn't adequately predicated. Then FBI agent Peter Strzok, who worked on the Hillary Clinton email investigation, responded by saying, "No, no".

Barr's reference to "spying" may refer to a secret surveillance warrant that the Federal Bureau of Investigation obtained in the fall of 2016 to monitor the communications of former Trump campaign aide Carter Page, who has not been charged with any wrongdoing and has denied being a Russian spy.
