Julian Assange hit embassy staff, says president of Ecuador

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is seen as he leaves a police station in London Britain

The first thing that everyone wanted to know was why the embassy had terminated their protection of Assange after seven years.

A lawyer for the Australian hacker, who remains jailed in London pending a ruling on possible extradition to the USA, has accused Ecuador of hurling "outrageous allegations" to distract from their "unlawful" abandonment of her client.

Belmarsh has frequently been used in high-profile national security cases, including that of former Finsbury Park Mosque hate preacher Abu Hamza, who now resides in a U.S. "supermax" prison following extradition.

The footage - which is believed to have been recorded between 2012 and 2017 - shows him in shorts and a tank top, skateboarding along a wooden floor without shoes on while a smiling woman sits on a chair next to him. The letter to Moreno is dated 10 April 2019 - a day before Assange was taken from the country's London embassy. He also kicked a ball around the embassy's corridors to entertain himself, the newspaper reported.

"Assange's attitude was absolutely reprehensible and outrageous after all of the protection provided by the Ecuadorian state for nearly seven years", Moreno said.

That stint ended on Thursday when Ecuador revoked his asylum and he was arrested by British police.

Assange, 47, faces up to 12 months in prison after being found guilty of breaching his bail conditions when he entered the Ecuadorian embassy in 2012.

"I'm a friend of Julian Assange".

The president also made references to Assange's apparently poor hygiene following allegations made by Ecuador's interior minister, Maria Paula Romo.

Assange took refuge at the embassy after losing his battle against extradition to Sweden, where he faced allegations including rape.

Assange has been charged by US prosecutors on suspicion of conspiring with Chelsea Manning to obtain secret military and diplomatic documents, The Washington Post reported last week.

Ecuadorean President Lenin Moreno accused him of abusing his country's goodwill, mistreating embassy staff and using his perch to try to interfere in the political affairs of other countries.

Separately, Robinson denied the Ecuadoran government's claims about her client's worsening behaviour inside the Latin American country's embassy in London. "He maintained constant improper hygienic behavior throughout his stay, which affected his own health and affected the internal climate of the diplomatic mission".
