Brooklyn Nets' D'Angelo Russell caught with weed at LaGuardia airport

D'Angelo Russell Nets

"Brooklyn Nets All-Star point guard D'Angelo Russell was cited at a NY airport Wednesday night after marijuana was found in his checked baggage, a person with knowledge of the incident told USA TODAY Sports", wrote Perez. The best part is he was trying to smuggle it through a fake Arizona Iced Tea can. He probably thought that he could hide his stash in the can and nobody would notice.

Authorities searched the can and found the marijuana that led to Russell's citation.

Russell, who just completed his fourth season in the National Basketball Association and second with Brooklyn, was reportedly flying from NY to Louisville, where he grew up. The story itself was confirmed to USA Today and others by a Port Authority spokesperson.

Trump attacks social media companies after Facebook bans Alex Jones, other extremists
The president is showing particular support for Watson, an InfoWars personality notorious for spreading misinformation. But beyond the bans on individuals, Facebook has deployed an even more terrifying tool of censorship - link-banning.

Russell appeared in 81 games, including 81 starts. He did so by averaging career bests in points (21.1 per game) and assists (7.0) as the Nets reached the playoffs for the first time since 2015, ultimately losing to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.

As Sports Illustrated pointed out Thursday, the NBA's policy on weed requires a player who receives such a citation to enter a league marijuana program, but would not be suspended until receiving three citations or testing positive in a drug test. The player can not be suspended until he violates the marijuana policy three times, USA Today states.

"I understand that for some players ... that marijuana is a way of dealing with those issues", Silver told Bleacher Report.
