Jerry Nadler's New Ultimatum for Barr

Kamala Harris responds to Trump calling her 'nasty'

The Trump administration has sought to block staffers and former officials from appearing for hearings or interviews, as well as decline requests for documents from a number of House committees investigating the president.

Democrats accused the Republican President and his administration of a launching a growing attack on American democracy.

We now know, thanks to WaPo and NYT, that special counsel Robert Mueller sent a letter to Barr, complaining about Barr's summary of Mueller's report on his almost two-year investigation into Russian election meddling.

"He lied to Congress".

Pelosi said that "if anybody else did that, it would be considered a crime".

"Nobody is above the law".

Nadler has talked about moving to contempt proceedings if the attorney general doesn't comply.

Other members of Pelosi's caucus are going after the attorney general in even stronger terms.

Within minutes of Ms Pelosi's comments, Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec called her words "reckless, irresponsible and false".

Republicans say the Democrats are focusing on Barr as a substitute for impeachment, to avoid the political backlash that would come with official proceedings against Trump.

As part of her performance, the singer made a splash with surprise appearances from 'N Sync and Justin Bieber. Kelly Clarkson will host and perform at the show, airing live on NBC at 8 p.m.

In particular, they have zeroed in on Barr's handling of the report's release, alleging that he is biased toward the president in his presentation of the report in his initial four-page summary of its conclusions.

"Based on his non-response", Harris said, "I am now suspicious..." In his letter, Nadler says Barr must comply by Monday at 9 a.m. or they will hold him in contempt.

"It is one thing for a president to encourage complete cooperation and transparency in a criminal investigation conducted largely within the Executive Branch".

"He's being utterly contemptuous to Congress", said Cohen. Barr made that assertion despite a letter he received in March from Mueller complaining Barr's summary didn't fully capture the "context, nature and substance" of Mueller's almost 400-page report, which was released weeks later. Several Democrats have called on him to resign.

It didn't tell one lie the whole day. Mr Barr cancelled his testimony after clashing with Mr Nadler over the hearing's format.

Nadler's committee is also interested in having Mueller testify, with the chair stating Thursday he hoped it would take place in May.

The lawmakers said the rules of the bar in both Virginia and the District of Columbia, where Mr. Barr as admitted to practice, require candidness from all lawyers. "In particular, Attorney General Barr testified that you believed media coverage of your investigation was unfair without the public release of those summaries".

Lindsey Graham, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, as Barr testified last week before the committee. Nadler, however, asks Barr to reconsider his refusal to let members of Congress view the redacted grand jury material in the report.

Graham has been firm that he would not bring Mueller in to testify about the investigation, but he said at the end of Wednesday's hearing he would instead write to Mueller to give him the chance to respond.

Hillary Clinton's comments came at Wednesday's MSNBC interview with anchor Rachel Maddow, as she flashbacked to Trump's sarcastic call during the 2016 election campaign for Russian Federation to find 33,000 emails deleted from Clinton's private email server, offering a hypothetical: "China, if you're listening, why don't you get Trump's tax returns".
