Led Senate Intel Committee Subpoenas Trump Jr

Senate Intelligence Committee Subpoenas Donald Trump Jr

The United States Senate Intelligence Committee has subpoenaed one of the president's sons, Donald Trump Jr, to answer questions about his contacts with Russia, US media reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed congressional sources.

"I have no opinion about that because he is a private citizen and not a member of the administration", Mulvaney told CBS News' Major Garrett in an interview for the network's "The Takeout" podcast.

In 2017 Trump Jr testified he was only "peripherally aware" of proposed plans for the Moscow project. "Possible, possible, but unlikely".

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul took a shot at Burr after the subpoena was reported, tweeting that "apparently the Republican chair of the Senate Intel Committee didn't get the memo from the Majority Leader that this case was closed".

In a statement to The Daily Wire, a source close to Donald Trump, Jr. slammed the subpoena as an "obvious PR stunt", noting that he has already given 8-9 hours of testimony in front of the Senate Intel committee and over two dozen hours total in front of various committees. When Trump Jr. testified before the committee in 2017, it was agreed that he would only have to appear once as long as he stayed as long as necessary, which he did.

According to the Mueller report, special counsel investigators could not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired with Russian Federation.

Two top GOP lawmakers are not pleased that their colleagues on the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee haven't the Russian Federation probe die as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell instructed earlier this week. "Let's work together to help POTUS move United States forward", Rep.

Trump Jr's testimony was reportedly brought into question in light of the February testimony by Cohen who claimed that he had briefed Trump Jr and Ivanka Trump about "10 times" on the project, implying that Trump's son was in fact keeping close tabs on the matter. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) wrote on Twitter.

After the release of Mueller's report, the White House began to actively fight back the Democrat-led inquiries. Specifically, the committee wants to ask President Donald Trump's eldest son about his knowledge of a failed deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Barr refused to testify before the Democratic-controlled committee last week after a dispute over the hearing's format.
