Constance Wu clarifies angry tweets following 'Fresh off the Boat' renewal

Constance Wu

Constance Wu has insisted she's grateful for the renewal of her TV show Fresh Off The Boat after appearing to be upset about the news on Twitter. And if there was any doubt that her tweets were in reference to Boat's renewal earlier that day, when a fan congratulated her and said the renewal was "great news", she replied (in a since-deleted tweet): "No it's not".

"Todays tweets were on the heels of rough day&were ill timed w/the news of the show", she tweeted on Friday.

She also wrote the phrase "dislike" under a post on the show's official Instagram page announcing the renewal. Shortly after her initial tweets, Wu responded with the above clarifying comment, in which she acknowledged her language but disagreed that she went on "a rampage".

Wu got her first big break in Hollywood in 2015 when she began playing the protective mom, Jessica Huang, in Fresh Off the Boat - the first network sitcom about an Asian-American family to air in 20 years.

Crtics could destroyed Man City if we fail, says Guardiola
From our point of view, there could be a big football moment for us as well on the weekend. He's hugely respected for the way he goes about everything he does.

Constance Wu said she was initially unhappy that "Fresh Off the Boat" was renewed for a sixth season because it meant she had to give up another project she was passionate about. I say fuck a lot. Y'all are making a lot of assumptions about what I was saying. "I love the word", she wrote.

Anyone who loves to start drama knows that you have to be as cryptic as possible when people call you out on it, and Constance Wu is clearly an expert, returning to Twitter a few minutes later to tell us that none of this is about what we think. Even if she hates being on the show - and there could be valid reasons for her frustration that we don't know! - it comes across as disrespectful to the entire cast and crew to be so negative about the show continuing.

Wu has denied that the renewal of "Fresh Off the Boat" caused her to be upset on social media. "Thank you. It's meaningful when you make the choice to believe women". Constance Wu didn't appear to be one of them - at least for a couple of hours on Friday (Saturday NZ time). "I'm proud to be a part of it". "For all the fans support, thank u & for all who support my casual use of the word f-- thank u too", she concluded.
