India condemns drone attacks targeting oil installations in Saudi Arabia

In parallel, Iran suspended its compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal, weakened as it is after Donald Trump withdrew past year, a major compulsion being that it was concluded by his predecessor, Barack Obama.

He added that US sanctions had bit deeply into Iran and that a political solution was necessary. In other comments carried on the semi-official Mehr news agency, Zarif was quoted as saying "a multilateral deal can not be treated unilaterally". Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis said they carried out the drone strike on Saudi oil pumping stations.

He said the attack proves the Houthis "are merely a tool that Iran's regime uses to implement its expansionist agenda in the region".

The Houthi group denies being a puppet of Tehran or receiving arms from Iran, and says its revolution is against corruption.

A Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen retaliated on Thursday by conducting several air strikes on the Houthi-held capital Sanaa.

Residents of Sanaa scrambled to pull wounded people from the rubble of a building hit by the airstrikes. Fawaz Ahmed told The Associated Press he saw three bodies in the rubble - a man, a woman and a child, all buried together. That included two pumping stations along its critical East-West Pipeline, which can carry almost 5 million barrels of crude a day to the Red Sea. The drone attacks on the pipeline marked one of the rebels' deepest and most significant strikes inside Saudi territory since the conflict began.

Dr Anwar Gargash reiterated that the country remains committed to peace, despite recent escalations in the region that have increased tension between the United States and Iran.

Iran has not addressed the issue of training proxies, but has warned that its allies in the region have the weapons and capability to target enemies if Iranian interests are threatened.

On Wednesday, the U.S. State Department ordered all nonessential government staff to leave Iraq, and Germany and the Netherlands both suspended their military assistance programs in the country in the latest sign of tensions.

He welcomed the president of Switzerland to the White House.

"The Middle East is acting as a tinderbox for conflict", said Stephen Brennock of oil broker PVM.

Tehran has called the US military presence "a target" rather than a threat, and said it would not allow its oil exports to be halted.

John Beilein leaving MI for Cavaliers job
No one is saying Beilein ran away from MI to escape the stench and debacle that is college basketball (unless Beilein says that). Beilein followed up Dan Dakich's six-day stint in Morgantown and would stay for the next five years.

"It is an act of sabotage that affects the safety of global navigation and the security of world oil supplies", said Abdallah Y. Al Mouallimi, Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the UN.

Other Saudi officials fired off similar tweets, ratcheting up pressure on the kingdom's regional arch-enemy amid heightened tension between Washington and Tehran over sanctions and USA military presence in the Gulf.

Tehran is threatening to resume higher enrichment on July 7 if no new nuclear deal is in place, beyond the 3.67% permitted by the current deal between Tehran and world powers.

The United States had imposed new sanctions on Iran in November past year, but gave a six-month waiver to eight countries, including India, which allowed them to import some Iranian oil.

Anwar Gargash, the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs, declined to directly blame Iran for the attack, but he repeatedly criticized Tehran.

The minister said the sabotage attack against four oil tankers last Sunday off the coast of Fujairah had come at a "sensitive and hard period in the region". "And what always worries me in these sort of situations you have in particular with Iran where stakes are made with regards to local attacks and in normal situations that would be risky".

The permanent missions of Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Norway to the United Nations have sent a joint letter to the Security Council about the recent incident in which four oil tankers were attacked and damaged in Emirati territorial waters. It did not elaborate.

A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation, has said the other three showed damage as well.

In terms of next steps, Al Jazeera reported Thursday that the Qatari foreign minister is holding talks in Tehran to attempt to defuse tensions.

Iran's foreign minister said Thursday there's no possibility of diplomacy.

Qatar hosts the forward headquarters of the US military's Central Command at its vast Al-Udeid Air Base.

Based on this information, Saudi Arabia and the UAE will not give that huge service to Iran, while Trump's administration will not tolerate terrorism practices for long.
