Swamp Thing canceled at DC Universe

Swamp thing

As part of the latter news, a slightly different number was mentioned for Swamp Thing, specifically $4.99 million in requests for the pilot alone, plus an additional $16 million.

Well-deserved, too, as the premiere - and the episode airing tomorrow - feature a superb cast, great writing and high production values. The cancellation comes just one episode into the show's run.

Swamp Thing filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Were you a fan of the first episode?

And while Swamp Thing himself - along with numerous more horrifying moments of the show that have to do with sentient plant life seem to be largely practical effects - they're all movie-level quality, so I'm guessing they don't come cheap either. It's a pity, really, as Swamp Thing brought a fresh sense of terror to the DC Universe streaming service, which is now seemingly under review as its parent company, WarnerMedia, plots a central platform to rival Disney Plus.

Brexit would be 'very good' for Ireland

Many speculate that Warner Bros.is losing faith in the viability of DC Universe. Time went on, the show premiered. However, DC Universe's subscriber base was stronger than ever at the time, and these reports were denied.

Originally announced back in April 2017, the DC Universe streaming service launched 10 months ago.

I do recognize there's a whole lot of inside baseball that likely affects the decision to cancel the show as well.

The remainder of the episodes will still roll out on the streaming platform.

The DC Comics-adapted series then applied for another $16.3 million for Season 1, according to the Star News, though it's not clear if or how the reduced episode order affected that total. Seems like executives were anxious about the series' direction and lost faith in the project's ability to attract viewers to the fledgling streaming service.
