Nigel Farage Delivers Brexit Party Demands To Prime Minister

Newly elected Labour MP Lisa Forbes gives her speech

British Prime Minister Theresa May is stepping down as leader of the governing Conservatives, officially triggering a contest to replace her that could see her party embrace a tougher stance on Brexit.

The reason I would say that; is because the new European Union Parliament, and everything around it, all the commissioners etcetera, they are all going to have to be appointed between the 2 July, and effectively the 31 October.

Meanwhile, the Conservatives fell to third place in the Peterborough by-election, behind winners Labour and the Brexit Party in second place, in what is traditionally a Tory-Labour marginal seat.

After handing the letter to security inside Downing Street, the Brexit Party leader said: "We've got 55 days now of total impasse, while the government spends all its time working out who the next prime minister is".

Nigel Farage launched the Brexit party just eight weeks ago and the party was hoping to replicate its success in the European elections by winning its first United Kingdom parliamentary seat.

Britain's opposition Labour Party held on to the parliamentary seat of Peterborough in eastern England on Friday, seeing off a challenge from Nigel Farage's insurgent Brexit Party.

She survived a no-confidence vote, the resignations of a string of high-profile Brexit supporters, notably former foreign secretary Boris Johnson, and has endured constant sniping from MPs on the sidelines.

Despite the loss, Farage said the result showed that British politics has "fundamentally changed", with the stranglehold of Conservative and Labour now broken.

Brexit would be 'very good' for Ireland
Trump's two adult sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, poured pints of Guinness for locals in a Doonbeg pub Wednesday night. It will be President Trump's first trip to Ireland since being elected US President in November 2016.

The contest to replace her has been heating up for weeks, with candidates arguing over the rights and wrongs of a "no-deal" Brexit, Britain's most significant foreign and trade policy shift for more than 40 years. Parliament has repeatedly voted to rule out leaving without a deal, though it's not clear how lawmakers could stop a prime minister who was determined to do it.

It comes as a new poll, on behalf of pro-EU groups Best for Britain and Hope not Hate, suggested Labour could lose all its Scottish MPs if they fail to back another vote. Further rounds will be held on June 18, 19 and 20 if needed, with the least popular candidate eliminated each time. The victor will be announced the week of July 22.

The final two will be put to a vote of members of the wider Conservative Party, with a victor expected to be announced in the week of July 22.

The Conservative leadership contest risks deepening the rift in the party over when, how or even if to leave the European Union - with a few of the almost dozen contenders ruling out serving in a future cabinet - if they are vanquished and lose out to a rival.

"I believe that European leaders want to find a way through this", Gove wrote in the Daily Mail.

The front-runner, Boris Johnson, has warned that the Conservatives face "extinction" if Britain doesn't leave the European Union on Oct 31. The prospect poses a dilemma as numerous party's supporters backed Brexit.

Thursday's election was called after Peterborough's previous Labour lawmaker was jailed for lying about a speeding offence and then fired by a public petition.

One political commentator said it means the crucial job of picking May's successor will be made by "a group of elderly people around the country", a reference to much of the Conservative Party's membership.
