African football boss seeks to investigate Cameroon behaviour against England

Nchout sends Cameroon through with last kick of game

"If that was my team - and it will never be any of my players - they would never play for England again, with that kind of behaviour".

Any lingering prospect of a Cameroon comeback was dashed by England's third goal in the 58th minute.

Ellen White's strike to double England's tally initially was ruled out for offside, but the video review system confirmed the goal should stand - leading to Cameroon's players making emotional pleas to the referee before seemingly refusing to play on.

England and Norway will go head-to-head in Le Havre on Thursday 27 June (8pm BST).

Despite the large outcry after the incidents, that included two near walk outs and spitting, Federation Internationale de Football Association general secretary Fatma Samoura paid tribute to Cameroon on Twitter, saying, "To my sisters the Lionesses".

The ill-tempered match included an incident where Cameroon defender Augustine Ejangue spat on the arm of England forward Toni Duggan.

So Cameroon still had all 11 players to pack onto the goal line.

These rules mean that Federation Internationale de Football Association does potentially have the power to step in and retrospectively sanction Alexandra Takounda's late stamp on Steph Houghton, the incident when Augustine Ejangue seemingly spat on the outstretched arm of Toni Duggan and Yvonne Leuko's early elbow in the face of Nikita Parris.

However, one suspects it will not be too long before a WTA players raises their hand... "I don't have to be getting to the U.S. He gave me a point at a pretty crucial time, and I gave him a point at a pretty crucial time.

England boss Phil Neville made three changes from the side which beat Japan in midweek, with five City players named in his starting line-up. But after VAR, the goal was allowed and England went up 2-0. White was given her fourth goal in three matches at this tournament. Cameroon's players were furious, having seen Duggan in an offside position in the build-up on the stadium screen, despite the fact she wasn't interfering with play.

Federation Internationale de Football Association secretary general Fatma Samoura tweeted that the Cameroon players "inspired many young girls, " with "passionate and talented play on the field that made your fans proud and your country is proud of you". The game eventually resumed, briefly, before halftime.

That ended any doubt about the final outcome, and the referee then opted not to give England a penalty after coming to review a possible foul on Fran Kirby in the box by Ysis Sonkeng, thereby avoiding the further wrath of the Cameroon players.

The anger lingered into the second half.

Nchout appeared to have rocked England by firing home past Bardsley but after checking with VAR official, referee Qin chalked off the effort for offside in the build-up.

Gabrielle Onguene was determined to be in an offside position when Nchout received the ball.

Nchout had put her side ahead in the second half with a lovely, dinked goal.

The player had to be comforted by Djeumfa.
