Abel Osundairo (L), and his brother Ola Osundairo, the Nigerian brothers were arrested in connection with the alleged attack on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett but were released after reportedly telling detectives Smollett paid them to stage the attack.

And he replies: "Yeah I do, I just wanted you to see it", and adds: "There's bleach on me". All of the charges were eventually dropped. The actor could face a fresh criminal prosecution for his role in the saga, depending upon the outcome of the investigation.

"Yeah", Smollett responds. "I do".

Additional footage shows the Osundairo brothers, who assisted Smollett with the attack, wearing hoodies in a cab near the location of the incident.

"The reason I am calling is because of this s**t", Smollett can be heard saying while another officer touches the rope looped around his neck. Police collected the footage as they tried to piece together the route that two brothers took across the city to the spot where police say they acted out a staged attack of the actor.

Will we ever see the end of the Jussie Smollet case?

Smollett was indicted on 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct on March 6 for falsifying reports that he was the victim of a hate crime.

United Nations report piles pressure on Saudi crown prince
Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi speaks during a news convention in Manama, Bahrain, Feb. 1, 2015. Khashoggi, was being launched", it said.

Smollett claimed to have been assaulted by two men who shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him on January 29.

"Yeah", said Smollett, before unwinding the white rope, loosening it and placing it on the kitchen counter. Gatson tells officers that the alleged attack made him emotional.

So Smollett may not walk off scot-free, after all: The special prosecutor can refile charges and go to trial.

Smollett was suspended from Empire, and later it was confirmed he wouldn't return for the show's final season.

Chicago Police still thought Smollett was guilty, even though the charges were all dropped.

The city of Chicago has filed a lawsuit against the actor, seeking to recoup the more than $130,000 that was spent on the police investigation.
