FedEx refused a Huawei phone to the U.S. amidst Huawei ban

FedEx refused a Huawei phone to the US amidst Huawei ban - GSMArena.com news

Living proof is shipping company FedEx, which has recently refused to ship a Huawei P30 from the United Kingdom to the United States due to the ban.

The department in May added Huawei and its affiliates to an "entity list", a move that under Export Administration Regulations (EAR) barred us companies from supplying the Chinese company with parts such as electronic chips or providing other technologies without USA government approval.

She added that the company is trying to minimize disruptions to customers as "we adjust operations to comply with a dynamic United States regulatory environment".

The U.S. Commerce Department added Huawei to the so-called Entity List back in May, which prohibits American companies from exporting some technology and restricted information to Huawei. The Trump administration appended Huawei to a trade boycott last month prohibiting United States companies from disbursing or disseminating technology and constituent to the Chinese tech company without initially acquiring a U.S. government license. "We have invested heavily in our internal export control compliance program".

"FedEx is a transportation company, not a law enforcement agency", the company later said in a statement.

FedEx says the USA rules makes shippers liable for packages that could violate the restrictions, even if the shipper has no prior knowledge of the problem. FedEx feels that the law could allow the government to charge it with shipping illegal goods if it does not do this.

Candidates have been brushing up on their policies and rehearsing their zingers for weeks. "So it's very hard to break through". Per NBC , candidates will be given 60 seconds to answer each question and 30 seconds to respond to follow-ups.

FedEx Corp, the US courier group credited with spearheading overnight shipping, was christened Federal Express because founder Frederick Smith thought the name sounded patriotic.

"We hope the Commerce Department will come up with a solution that eliminates the requirement that we be the policeman for these shipments and other common carriers as well", Smith said. USA businesses are no longer allowed to do business with Huawei but FedEx has found itself in the crossfire of this issue after it emerged last month that it had misdirected two packages from Huawei. Huawei doesn't use Google's Android or Google apps in China, with Chinese smartphone users experiencing more of an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) setup there with some Huawei apps.

The so-called 'operational error' comes less than a month after FedEx apologized for rerouting packages sent between offices of Huawei.

FedEx wants the courts to declare the export control law unconstitutional, at least as it applies to common carriers like FedEx.

Earlier this month, the Chinese authorities launched a probe into the US-based courier giant over claims it had botched the delivery of several Huawei packages amid the ongoing rift between Washington and Beijing over the tech behemoth.
