Aguirre 'responsible' for Egypt's Cup of Nations fiasco

Stuart Baxter head coach of South Africa during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Finals football match between South Africa and Morocco at the Al Salam Stadium Cairo Egypt on 01 July 2019

Former Black Leopards head coach Dylan Kerr has urged South Africa to play without any fear against Egypt on Saturday.

The Pharaohs' exit from Africa's most prestigious football competition comes a year after their debacle at the World Cup in Russian Federation where they lost all their three group matches.

Egypt Football Association president Hany Abo Rida announced the firing of the Mexican coach, and his own resignation, less than three hours after the game as a stunned host nation digested the defeat.

Egypt were tipped as leading title contenders on home soil but came unstuck against a team that scraped through in the last of four spots reserved for the best third-place sides.

South Africa continued to try their hand at shooting on goal, with Thembinkosi Lorch and Kamohelo Mokotjo both firing shots just wide of El Shenawy's right-hand post, but the first half ended with the teams locked at 0-0.

Salah missed training on Thursday with a cold but is expected to play in the hosts' last-16 tie against South Africa.

'Iran Must Seize UK Oil Vessel If Tanker Not Released'
The Iran nuclear deal dispute resolution mechanism will not be triggered for now, said a source at Macron's Elysee office. The IAEA has repeatedly said it is up to the parties to the deal to decide whether there has been a breach of its terms.

Odion Ighalo gave Nigeria a 19th-minute lead but Cameroon hit back with two goals in quick succession before half-time from Stéphane Bahoken and Clinton Njié.

"If Egypt did get past that line, then we had to drop quickly and establish a compact block and I think that we did very well too".

"It's very hard to win each match 5-0, very hard". We have nothing to lose and playing these kinds of big matches should be motivation enough for the boys.

"It's very important that we know how to handle this situation". They will meet Nigeria in a game nobody thought was possible before yesterday's events in Egypt.

South Africa were the more unsafe team in the first half and Percy Tau was denied a 22nd-minute opener when his free-kick was tipped over the crossbar by Mohamed El-Shenawy.
