Pelosi responds to AOC drama: 'I've said what I'm going to say'

"They took offense because I addressed, at the request of my members, an offensive tweet that came out of one of the member's offices that referenced our Blue Dogs and new Southern Democrats essentially as segregationists", Pelosi continued, referring to a since-deleted tweet by an AOC staffer.

"I am anxious about the signal that it sends to people I speak to and for, who sent me here with a mandate, and how it affects them", Pressley told the Post. But lately they're speaking at one another in a way that threatens Democratic unity and underscores broader tensions reshaping their party. Pelosi has spent more than 30 years perfecting an inside game to secure wins for her party, most notably the Affordable Care Act in 2010. Ken Klippenstein, a reporter with the Young Turks, was recently blocked by Iowa representative Steve King after he tricked the politician into retweeting a movie screenshot as a joke, to much derision online. She stressed that some Democrats, including moderates who unseated Republicans in 2018, are fighting to keep their seats in 2020.

For Pelosi allies, her offhand dismissal of Ocasio-Cortez and three other liberal first-term lawmakers who opposed a border security package last month was a necessary comeuppance for "the squad" of newcomers who are trying to push the party leftward. "I'm looking forward to the day she has to unblock me so that free speech in America is guaranteed even when it offends!" "But they didn't have any following". Although the measure passed Congress easily and became law, many House progressives and Hispanics voted "no" because they said the measure lacked real controls on how the government must handle children, while the party's moderates and senators said the measure was the best compromise they could craft with the GOP-run Senate.

Several in the caucus were uncomfortable with Pelosi's comments. Like Goldberg, she pushed back on the idea that Pelosi harbored racist sentiments. "We women of color have faced this for such a long time".

"This is not how democracy is supposed to work", she said.

Notably, Hayes, Ocasio-Cortez and Omar appeared together with Pelosi smiling on the cover of Rolling Stone in a photo taken in January.

The House speaker made similar comments about Ocasio-Cortez in an April interview.

Deutsche Bank Begins a Massive Transformation - Cuts 18 000 Jobs
However, it has struggled to compete with USA rivals, hampered by regulatory investigations and litigation. One senior banker, still in a job , questioned how well the slimmed down franchise in Asia would compete.

Pelosi instructed the Democrat lawmakers to make her the object of their anger.

Still, Pelosi tried to create a bridge with the New Yorker: During their first face-to-face meeting just before the midterm elections, Pelosi spent almost two hours trying to convince the liberal that she was just like her, touting her background.

"God, it totally resonates with me, absolutely", Jayapal said when asked if she agreed with Ocasio-Cortez's comments about being singled out as a woman of color.

In February, Pelosi announced the Democratic members for her select panel on the climate crisis without Ocasio-Cortez included.

In her press conference Thursday, Pelosi did not elaborate on potential divisions within the caucus. "Just today the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a ruling that elected officials can not block individuals from their Twitter accounts, thereby setting a precedent that Ocasio-Cortez must follow". "She doesn't want me to be a part of the discussion and conversation". With all do respect maybe you didn't hear what I said.

Assuming that Hikind and Saladino are successful, the burden imposed on Ocasio-Cortez would be slight. She doesn't want to, however.
