Four Queensland children drive 900km after leaving goodbye note

Four children drive from Gracemere to Glen Innes after taking fishing rods and leaving a note

Four children who packed fishing rods into an SUV belonging to one of their parents and drove 620-miles on a madcap spree across the Australian outback were arrested by police on Sunday.

The 14-year-old boy, two 13-year-old boys and one 10-year-old girl, who are all too young to have legal driving permits, then took off on the 560 mile road trip along the famous Gold Coast - from Gracemere in Queensland to Grafton in New South Wales, cops said.

One of the boys had left a note for his parents before leaving, and authorities believe that the kids split the driving responsibilities, as the trip they took usually takes more than 10 hours.

"[The children] locked themselves in the auto and police have had to use a baton to get into the vehicle to arrest them", he said, reported the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. However, officers stopped the chase due to concerns about the driver's age.

Dashcam footage shows the moment a dramatic police chase ended with the suspect shooting at officers through the windshield of his vehicle, while three of his three toddler children were in the back.

The four teenagers had driven the vehicle 1000 kilometres across Australia before being stopped by police.

UK will not escort every British-flagged ship through Strait of Hormuz
This is enough to provide reassurance, but probably not to deal with a crisis, BBC defence correspondent Jonathan Beale said. Royal Navy Type 23 frigate HMS Montrose is pictured at speed in the Mediterranean Sea during an exercise in October 2012.

Four runaway children, including a 10-year-old girl, went on an epic 1 000-kilometre road trip in a stolen vehicle across Australia before police intervened, officials said Monday.

"There will be charges laid in the future and it's just a matter of police having the opportunity to interview those children at a later date".

The 14-year-old lived in Grafton, which might have been the children's destination, Mr Williams said.

He said the father of the 14-year-old boy, whose vehicle had been stolen, is flying in to NSW from Rockhampton today. Williams said they will be charged, but did not list the alleged offenses.

In Queensland and New South Wales, a person must be 17 to drive.

The auto used to be later seen on the facet of a toll road in Grafton, in accordance with Insp Darren Williams from Novel South Wales Police.
